Christian Dior first licensed the production of menswear under his name in 1954; although he wore bespoke himself, Dior was a pioneer when it came to diffusion lines. Marc Bohan established the independent Christian Dior Monsieur line in 1970. Since March 2018, the Dior menswear line has been called Dior Men instead of Dior Homme. The change was under the influence of creative director Kim Jones. Under Hedi Slimane's direction, Dior Men has introduced a characteristic slim yet chic silhouettes inspired by rock and roll and the club scene. Since 2007 and the departure of Hedi Slimane, Kris Van Assche introduced a much more minimal and polished style through softening the garment silhouettes which had become too cliché,
