Met Gala 2026: Celebrity Glasses & Sunglasses
And finally, the Met Gala — fashion’s biggest night — returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on the first Monday in May (and yes, this year it happened to fall on the fourth — May the Fourth be with you) to raise funds for the Costume Institute.
This year’s gala celebrates the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Costume Art,” highlighting bodies of all sizes, forms, and shapes — including fashion for pregnant women and embracing disabled figures. Esteemed, invitation-only guests dressed in accordance with the “Fashion is Art” dress code, with many taking cues from their favourite artworks (mostly legendary paintings), translated into body-focused designs. The 2026 co-chairs include Anna Wintour, Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez serving as honorary co-chairs.
It is our pleasure to cover the red carpet — or rather, this year’s beige carpet, edged in green and designed to resemble a meadow-like ascent into the museum — with a particular focus on the eyewear spotted throughout the evening. From optical frames to statement sunglasses, many of these pieces are available to shop or pre-order at Pretavoir, your home of luxury eyewear.

We begin with Anna Wintour, who has hosted the Met Gala for decades. She was, of course, seen in her signature Chanel sunglasses.
While the exact model remains difficult to identify, our CHANEL 5524 C534/S8 in black and beige offers a similar silhouette to Anna Wintour's recognisable style.

Co-chair Beyoncé, returning to Met Gala after a decade-long absence since 2016, arrived alongside Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Carter. Blue Ivy opted for sculptural, asymmetrical sunglasses from Balenciaga by Pierpaolo Piccioli.

For his Met Gala debut, Dwayne Johnson wore black and gold Maybach THE DELIGHT III optical glasses.
Anderson .Paak paired his signature wig with white and gold Cartier Buffalo Horn CT0464S 007 oval sunglasses for Met Gala 2026, an exclusive style currently available in-stock at Pretavoir.
Anne Hathaway, fresh from renewed pop culture attention following The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Mother Mary, arrived with fashion designer Michael Kors, who dressed her for the Met Gala 2026. Kors was seen wearing Saint Laurent Sun SL 816 001 sunglasses in black.

Power couple Russell Wilson and Ciara, drawing inspiration from Nefertiti, arrived in commanding style. Wilson wore Jacques Marie Mage El Dorado sunglasses, while Ciara opted for Jacques Marie Mage Niki cat-eye frames.

Luke Evans, dressed in a rich brown leather ensemble for Met Gala 2026, wore Ray-Ban Aviator Max RB3925 002/48 sunglasses with black polarised lenses; best appreciated once his hat was removed. Hats off, indeed.
Stanley Tucci delivered a dual eyewear moment at the Met steps.

He arrived in David Beckham Eyewear DB 7046/S sunglasses with tortoiseshell temples (now discontinued),

before later changing into Oliver Peoples Afton optical glasses in matte black (also discontinued).
However, a shiny black version remains available in-stock with limited quantities.
Julianne Moore attended Met Gala 2026 alongside designer Tom Ford, who dressed her for the evening. Ford wore his signature Fausto FT0711 01A sunglasses in black — available in limited quantities.
Fashion editor Hamish Bowles, formerly Vogue’s global editor-at-large and more recently editor-in-chief of The World of Interiors, wore Tom Ford TF5662-B 052 optical glasses in tortoiseshell with clear Blue Control lenses.
Balenciaga’s Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, remained true to his signature Ray-Ban Wayfarer RB2140 901 sunglasses in black: a classic, iconic frame that never goes wrong on (literally) anyone.
Celebrity stylist Law Roach, who styled many of those seen on the carpet and is a visionary himself, opted for gold Bottega Veneta BV1012S 008 aviator sunglasses with light brown lenses.

Filmmaker and Hindi cinema star Karan Johar, among those with an on-point interpretation of the “Fashion is Art” dress code, wore the Claw Plume sunglasses by Anna-Karin Karlsson.

Dwyane Wade was seen in Jacques Marie Mage Julien sunglasses in black.

Babyface attended Met Gala 2026 wearing Louis Vuitton LV Match sunglasses in black.

Skepta wore Thom Browne 947Z 001 sunglasses in black.

A creative force and visionary of his calibre, Wisdom Kaye opted for the black Chrome Hearts Roller sunglasses for his first Met Gala.
And then, there are the Met Gala 2026 Afterparties...
Saint Laurent once again proved it is not just a fashion house, but also an exceptional afterparty host, following its previous celebration after the 2026 Grammy Awards. Here are some of our favourite looks from the Saint Laurent Met Gala 2026 afterparty.
Charli XCX wore the new Saint Laurent Sun SL 900 Howl 001 pillowed sunglasses in black from the Spring 2026 collection.
A$AP Rocky attended the Saint Laurent Met Gala afterparty wearing Chanel by Matthieu Blazy, paired with Ray-Ban Mega Wayfarer RB0840S 6826/J5 sunglasses from his Blacked Out Collection.
Sticking to her signature visor, or shield silhouette, Amelia Gray Hamlin opted for the Saint Laurent Sun SL 914 001 sunglasses in black.
Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro wore Saint Laurent SL 736 001 pillowed sunglasses for the Parisian house's Met Gala Afterparty.
Rosé of BLACKPINK, an ambassador for Saint Laurent, was of course present at the Saint Laurent Met Gala afterparty. Wearing the black Saint Laurent Sun SL 822 001 sunglasses, she arrived hand-in-hand with Tate McRae, who opted for Gentle Monster Dada sunglasses.

Jennie Kim of BLACKPINK, who recently starred in a Ray-Ban campaign, opted for the black Ray-Ban RB 4335 601/71 wraparound sunglasses.

Rebecca Hall, seen with husband Morgan Spector, wore the Tom Ford Iggy TF1364 oval sunglasses in black featuring grey lenses for GQ Met Gala afterparty.
While we currently stock Tom Ford Iggy in tortoiseshell with blue lenses, the exact colourway that Rebecca Hall wore is available for pre-order by contacting our team.
Although not appearing at The Met steps, some sunglasses were spotted during the glam and preparation...
Revisit our coverage of the Met Gala 2025 below...
The Met Gala is one of the largest events in the fashion world, where A-list celebrities, fashion icons, and designers come together to showcase their best looks on the red carpet. This year's Met Gala, held as always at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, was no exception. This year's theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style", saw the official dress code “Tailored for You" stun on the red carpet. While the statement suits and tailored dresses caught our eye, the sunglasses worn by some celebrities, of course, made a lasting impact and completed these iconic looks.
Sunglasses have always been a staple accessory on the Met Gala red carpet, and at times, they tend to be just as stylish and bold as the outfits themselves. Let's take a closer look at some of the most memorable frames from last night's event.
Many celebrities were wearing eyewear to complete their look on the red carpet, such as A$AP Rocky in his new collection with Ray-Ban, Miley Cyrys, Pharrell Williams, Amelia Gray Hamlin, and Joe Burrow - to name a few!

Gucci Has A Moment
ASAP Rocky wears Gucci GG1084S 001 sunglasses
ASAP Rocky, the stylish Harlem rapper has been a prominent figure in both the music and fashion industries for several years, known for his unique street style, establishing him as a fashion icon. He took to the red carpet in a Gucci ensemble, which was no surprise considering his close connection to the brand. His outfit included a custom-made Gucci ensemble: a long tartan skirt over denim jeans, a white shirt, and a stylish blazer. He accessorized with stacked belts and wore trendy square black glasses from Gucci's latest eyewear collection - Gucci GG1084S 001 sunglasses.

Tom Ford's & Sleek Black Tuxedo's
Bradley Cooper was another one of our favourites from this year's event. The actor represented one of our most popular brands, Tom Ford. Wearing a sophisticated all-black Tom Ford tuxedo paired with aviator sunglasses from the brand's latest collection.

Next up, we have Usher. The American singer and actor had just round up a show in Vegas before he brought his trendy presence to the Met Gala red carpet. Usher walked the famous red carpet with up-and-coming British fashion designer Bianca Saunders, and also honoured the designer by wearing a Bianca Saunders tuxedo. Knowing Usher's love for eyewear, we weren't surprised that he finished his look with a shiny pair of round-frame sunglasses.

Affordable Frames Make An Appearance
While it might seem impossible, emulating the style of your beloved celebrities and fashion icons doesn't always have to be a challenge—especially if you opt for the authentic frames they wear rather than knockoffs. Ray-Ban, an iconic All-American brand, has been a global eyewear staple since the 1930s and continues to reign supreme in the Hollywood and fashion scenes. Below, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Creative Director of Valentino, and British singer and record producer Labrinth both effortlessly rock a pair of Ray-Ban's.
