Top 10 Grammys 2023 Red Carpet Looks - Sunglasses Edition

Last night, on the 5th of February, we once again watched the iconic Grammys Award Ceremony grace our TV screens. After jumping online the morning after the yearly LA music awards, there was much to see and even more to discuss. Major talking points include Quavo’s tribute to his late Nephew and fellow Migos star, Takeoff, who was killed in November last year, Kim Petras making history, and Harry Styles overpowering Beyonce by winning album of the year. Despite this, Beyonce continued to upstage everyone else, making history like the superstar that she is. Last night saw her breaking the record for the most Grammy Awards of all time - a whopping total of 32. Putting the well-deserved awards and legendary performances to the side, the next crucial talking point has got to be the Grammy 2023 red carpet looks. From over-the-top dresses and headpieces to relaxed fitted suits, the dress aesthetic ranged from cool and casual to ultra-extravagant. Some of our personal favourite looks have got to be Cardi B’s blue Gaurav Gupta Couture dress that merged into a lavish headpiece, JLo’s mesh and rhinestone Gucci floor-length gown, Pusha T’s sleek yet simple black suit, (proving that less is more!) and Miguel's denim Diesel attire, rocked seamlessly with a pair of denim cowboy boots and accessorised with a belt and brown visor shades.

Let’s begin with Miguel. The American singer was seen head to toe in Diesel last night on the red carpet. The Italian clothing company has certainly made a comeback in the last year, with statement pieces such as bags, heels, and denim skirts and jeans taking the limelight. The brand truly is highlighting and bringing back the y2k style with its newer collections. His getup is ultra-cool while still looking put-together and 'awards ceremony appropriate'. The look is finished with a pair of brown visor-style shades that take us back to the early 2000s fashion era, and we are here for it!

Next up we have Steve Lacy. The young and talented singer, songwriter and producer performed his hit single ‘Bad Habit’ looking effortlessly cool while on stage. Lacy has recently been named the most stylish musician by Rolling Stone, and we certainly know why! Last night, he dressed in an all-black Saint Laurent attire - an immaculate black suit paired with a rhinestone and pearl brooch, white-toe pointed boots, a patient clutch bag, and finally, oversized bug-eyed shades. The sunglasses kept the look futuristic-chic - a style we are all here for at the moment. R&B icon Babyface is next on our Grammys 2023 red carpet looks hit list. He was seen head to toe in Italian luxury fashion house, Valentino - a favourite here at PRETAVOIR. Babyface went casual with a hint of pizzazz as he wore the brand's black trousers paired with all-black sneakers and an oversized sequin hoodie with a zip. We can’t forget the shades! Valentino has recently brought out it's new collection, and first collection in collaboration with the Akoni Group. We know first hand that this new collection of sunglasses is ultra-durable and the intricacy is impeccable. Find the exact pair Babyface wore here!

Cardi B has already received a mention from us, so it would only be right to mention her other half, Offset, who stood impeccably by her side on the red carpet. The rapper looked dapper in a white tuxedo with black trimmings and paired it with a classic white shirt with embellished detailing filling the collar. His look was finished with a pair of chunky black frames with a dark brown lens - again, another smart yet street red carpet look. We have found a similar style from Tom Ford here. 

American singer and actress Gabriella Wilson, more notably known as H.E.R., came at us with an all-black, grungy look as she wore what looked like a mini dress paired with a maxi skirt. The pairing of the velvet and sheer materials adds a luxurious textured style to the look and is accentuated by her layered silver chains and a pair of black retro sunnies. Thankfully for you, we have a very similar pair here!

Another significant female in the music industry who pulled off an iconic all-black attire was American model and rapper, Amber Rose. Amber looked very grunge-rock as she attended the event in a tight black mini-dress with a draped detailing. She kept the look classy by pairing it with sheer black tights and embellished metallic platform heels. To enhance the punk style, she accessorised with bold silver chains, black leather gloves, and thick black acetate frames with detailing along the temples. Oh, and her tattoo sleeves certainly complete the look! 

Ice-T and his partner Coco Austin looked super sleek heading down the red carpet in eye-catching embellished garments. The legendary American rapper wore a Gucci fit, including an embellished GG patterned blazer, paired with the brand's classic leather loafers and their gold GG buckle belt. Ice-T finished the Gucci look with gold metal frames with brown lenses. Perfect for everyday wear (and the red carpet, of course!) Find a similar pair from Gucci here!

Rapper Future brought his daughter, Londyn Wilburn along with him to the 65th annual Grammy Awards red carpet - very wholesome. He looked dapper wearing a pair of black slim-leg tailored trousers paired with a white fitted blazer and a standard shirt with a black bowtie. Future tied the look together with some sleek black patent shoes and, finally, a pair of black square sunnies. As a streetwear fanatic, it was only right for him to add a chilled street edge to his extremely trimmed look.  

It seems as though the fathers in the music industry love having their kids involved in awards ceremonies! Perhaps they enjoy twinning with their children on the red carpet too! Before DJ Khaled took to the Grammys stage alongside Jay-Z, John Legend, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Fridayy to perform his track, “God Did” he walked the red carpet in a black tux paired with some eye-catching black and yellow Jordan 4’s. His black square oversized frames kept the look edgy and affluent (could we expect anything less from Khaled?). By his side was his six-year-old son, Asahd. Asahd stuck to the black theme with his father. However, his silk two-piece also caught our eyes with the leopard print detailing! 

To round off our list, singer and fashion designer Dencia brought us a red carpet look that simply blew us away. This has got to be one of our favourite female looks from the night! The stylish 34-year-old wore a long black gown that was packed with turquoise embellishment that circled her head. We think that the picture speaks for itself! As her hair is covered with embellishment, the chic cat eye sunglasses tie the look together adding a little something extra to her top half. We are loving this embezzled futuristic design!
