Moncler originated in 1952 by René Ramillon and Andrè Vincent who were inspired by the mountain village near Grenoble, the name Moncler is in fact an abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, the name of the village. From the very start, Moncler combined technological advancements with the expertise of mountaineering professionals and in 1954 they produced the first real puffer jackets suitable for more extreme climates. Over the course of a decade, these jackets progressed along with technical design and material advancements allowing the Moncler brand to stay at the forefront of expedition wear. However, in 2006, the Moncler universe was further enhanced with the launch of the Haute Couture Moncler collection which repositioned the brand at the frontier of female elegance and sophistication.
The Moncler eyewear collection is designed with the same key principles at heart making them ideal for an outdoor lifestyle, but are just as exceptionally stylish. Each pair of Moncler glasses exquisitely reflect the brand’s spirit with each Moncler frame bringing together the brand’s technological research and aesthetic functionality. Moncler’s eyewear collections stay true to the brand’s three defining designs: Sport, Duvet and Timeless. Sport showcases Moncler’s versatile heritage-inspired frames which are designed with mountaineering in mind, Duvet is a truly iconic eyewear collection that includes all the puffy-effect styles which are crafted with the exclusive thermoforming technique that makes the glasses structure extremely lightweight and flat. Then finally Timeless includes Moncler’s more classic and retro-inspired frame shapes which reflect the true essence of the brand. Every Moncler optical is made unique by distinctive design details such as rounded or rubber tips for extra grip and comfort, performance-enhancing rotating hinges and branded nose pads and logomania prints.
